Welcome to our latest updates!

This release introduces significant cross-app improvements to UOM conversion, Reporting Currency, and period-over-period variance reporting, making these capabilities available in every Cube and Table report without requiring dedicated pages. Several legacy pages have been retired as a result. The release also removes the Q&A visual from all apps following Microsoft's deprecation announcement, renames the Connector app to align with Microsoft standards, and delivers targeted enhancements across Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Finance, Accounts Receivable, Projects, and Manufacturing.

Breaking changes

• Connector app renamed to align with Microsoft naming recommendations and standards:
  Power BI Insights Connector → Insights Connector for Power BI. This does not introduce any breaking changes. Everything will continue working as it does today, with only the app name changing. Please update any references or bookmarks accordingly.
• Q&A reports removed from all apps. Microsoft has announced the deprecation of the Power BI Q&A visual. As a result, all Q&A-based report pages have been removed across every app. For details, see Microsoft's deprecation notice. These Q&A capabilities will be replaced by Copilot functionality to provide a more advanced and AI-driven experience. More information about Copilot is available here.
• Pages removed due to UOM conversion improvements. These are fully replaced by the standard Cube reports, which now include all UOM-specific measures:
  Inventory by Unit of Measure → Use Inventory Cube
  Item Sales by Unit of Measure → Use Item Sales Cube
• Pages removed due to Reporting Currency improvements. Reporting Currency is now available directly within every Cube and table report via measure selection:
  Sales by Currency, Item Sales by Currency, Purchases by Currency, Item Purchases by Currency
  Inventory by Currency, G/L by Currency, Receivables by Currency, Payables by Currency

Enhancements

• UOM conversion improvements Unit of Measure (UOM) conversion fields have been added to measure selections. Up to 6 different Units of Measure are now available for any selected metric. • Reporting Currency improvements Reporting currencies and multiple exchange rate calculation options have been added to measure selection and are now available in every Cube and Table report. • Period over Comparison Period improvements Variance (period over comparison period) metrics have been improved to always return a value, even when data is missing for one of the periods. Pre-saved bookmarks have been added to these reports, including quick-access views such as customer cliff reports (customers where revenue has dropped significantly).
• Budget variance improvements Budget variance reports now always return a value, even when no budget has been defined for the selected period.
• "Exclude from Power BI" filter for Budgets Added an Exclude from Power BI toggle field to Sales Budgets, Purchase Budgets, and G/L Budgets. This allows administrators to mark specific budgets as excluded, so only relevant budgets are imported into Power BI reports.
• Text extension fields for Items Added support for 12 Text extension fields on the Item table across the Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, and Manufacturing apps. Bug fix

• Power BI data refresh warnings resolved. Fixed warnings appearing during Power BI data refresh related to data sorting, such as: "Cannot order A by B because at least one value in A has multiple distinct values in B."

App updates

Sales Insights

• Customer and item cliff bookmarks. Pre-saved bookmarks have been added to the Item Sales over Comparison Period report to highlight customers or items where revenue has dropped by more than 20% compared to the prior period. These bookmarks allow quick identification of at-risk customers and declining products.
• Delivery Cube report improvements. Added Shipped Quantity in multiple Units of Measure to the Delivery Cube. A new Delivery Base Date filter has also been added, enabling analysis by a chosen date field — for example, filtering by Requested Delivery Date rather than the actual shipment posting date.
• Sales Line text extension fields. Added 8 text extension fields to the Sales Line table, making it possible to surface custom sales line data from Business Central in Power BI reports.

Purchasing Insights

• New report: Expected Cost Variance. This new report compares the actual invoiced cost of purchased items against the expected cost recorded at the time of receipt. It highlights variances and deviation percentages, helping procurement and finance teams identify where final supplier invoices deviated from initial purchase estimates.
• On Time Receipt. A new metric has been added to the On Time Receipt report: Purch. Order Lines (Completely Received). This shows purchase order lines where all ordered quantities have been fully received, providing a cleaner view of completed receipts.
• On Time Receipt performance fix. Resolved a performance issue that caused slow loading on the On Time Receipt report.

Inventory Insights

• New report: BOM Structure. Displays the full Bill of Materials (BOM) structure up to 6 levels deep, giving a clear view of component hierarchies. BOM level filters (Level 1–6) are also included, allowing users to filter inventory, availability, and other data to show only items that are part of a specific BOM — for example, to check the availability of all components within a production BOM.
• New report: Transfer Overview. Provides a summary of inventory quantities and values transferred between locations. Rows represent the source (from) location and columns represent the destination (to) location, with an option to view transfers over time. Useful for tracking inter-warehouse movements and understanding stock flow.
• Order Type field added. The Order Type field has been added to the Inventory app, enabling analysis and filtering of inventory transactions by their originating order type.
• New average unit cost measures. Added Invoiced Avg. Unit Cost and Invoiced & Expected Avg. Unit Cost measures, calculated by dividing the total inventory value by the total inventory quantity. These provide a dynamic average cost that reflects the actual cost per unit held in stock.

Finance Insights

• Financial Reporting Row No. and Description together. Added a combined Fin. Report Description & Row No. field option, allowing users to display both the row description and row number simultaneously in financial reports.
• Source Currency analysis. Added Source Currency Amount and Source Currency Code fields to the G/L Entries table. This enables analysis of G/L transactions in the original document currency — for example, identifying the original EUR or USD amounts on entries that have been posted in a multi-currency environment.
• Document Date dimension. Added Document Date as a dimension table, available in field selections across reports. Users can now display data by Document Date month, year, week, or other period breakdowns.
• G/L Account Row Level Security (RLS) role. A new RLS role has been added to the Finance app that filters data by G/L Account. This allows administrators to restrict access so that specific users can only see entries related to certain G/L Accounts — for example, preventing non-finance users from viewing payroll accounts. • Dimension extension fields for Dimensions 2–4. Dimension extension fields are now available for Global Dimensions 2, 3, and 4 (in addition to Dimension 1, which was previously supported). This enables custom dimension attributes to be surfaced in Power BI reports for deeper dimensional analysis.

Accounts Receivable Insights

• Ship-to address fields added. The following Ship-to address fields have been added to the Accounts Receivable app: Country/Region, County, City, and Name. These fields allow receivables analysis to be broken down by the delivery address associated with each sales document.

Projects Insights

• Item Categories and hierarchies. Item Categories (including multi-level hierarchies) have been added to the Projects app, enabling project cost and revenue analysis to be broken down by item category — consistent with how item categories work in other apps such as Sales and Purchasing.
• Purchase Order No. in Project Ledger Entries. Added Purch. Order No. to Project Ledger Entries — available in cubes and as a filter. This makes it possible to trace project costs back to the originating purchase order and supports cross-app analysis between Projects and Purchasing.

Manufacturing Insights

• Production Order Line text extension fields. Added 4 text extension fields to the Production Order Line table. These fields are particularly useful for mapping Sales Order numbers or other identifiers to production order lines, supporting traceability between sales demand and manufacturing output.

Release Highlights

This release expands multi-language support, enhances dimensional analytics including default dimensions and table extensions, and introduces new measures across Sales, Inventory, and Finance Insights. The update strengthens reporting flexibility for multi-entity organisations and improves operational and financial performance analysis.

Breaking Changes:

• Jobs Insights has been renamed to Projects Insights, which includes a full rename of the semantic model with all tables, fields, and measures. This change impacts several apps, including Sales Insights, Purchasing Insights, Inventory Insights, Accounts Receivable Insights, Cash Flow Insights, and Service Insights. Due to the new app name, the app cannot be upgraded by simply overwriting the old version; instead, a new copy of the app must be installed. Enhancements:

• Drill-through is now enabled when analyzing data in Excel. You can double-click any cell to open a new sheet showing the detailed underlying records. This gives complete transparency and access to the most detailed level of your data, directly in Excel. If you find a measure that does not support drill-through, please let us know. Enhancements:

• Item Category Hierarchy: Introduced two additional hierarchy levels to Item Categories, enabling drill-down and analysis up to five levels deep. These enhancements have been applied across the Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Service, and Manufacturing apps.
• AI-Ready Data: Enhanced and optimized the semantic models to better support Power BI Copilot. By providing richer context within the model, Copilot can more accurately interpret and return high-quality results.

Breaking Changes:

• Sales and Purchasing Insights: The introduction of new "Total Sales" and "Total Purchases" reports required the removal of some legacy tables, particularly those related to G/L Accounts and Resources.
  Deleted Tables in Sales Insights: Posted Sales G/L Account Line, G/L Account Sales Field Parameter, G/L Account Sales Measure Parameter, Resource Sales Field Parameter, Resource Sales Measure Parameter.
  Renamed Field: 'Value Entry Date Filter' → 'Sales Date Filter'.

• Added new "Total Sales" reports that combine posted and outstanding sales data at the document line level (including Items, Resources, G/L Accounts, and other line types). Learn more here.
• Introduced a new "Budget Variance Calculation" filter with two options: "Only where budget exists" and "Treat missing budget as zero". This enables variance analysis even when no budget is defined.
• Added fields: 'Journal Batch Name' to the Customer Ledger Entries table; 'Assigned User ID' to the Sales Header table.

Purchasing Insights:

• Added new "Total Purchases" reports that combine posted and outstanding purchase data at the document line level.
• Introduced a Date Filter for Item Purchases reports, allowing users to analyze invoiced item data by Posting Date (default), Order Date, or Valuation Date.
• New Report: "Standard Cost Variance". This report displays items using the Standard Costing method, including actual cost, standard cost, variance, and variance percentage, helping identify cost deviations and improve cost control.

Inventory Insights:

• New Report: "Order Fulfillment". Displays outstanding sales order quantities alongside available inventory per product.
• Inventory Aging Report Enhancements: Added aging groups: "121–180 days" and "181–365 days"; Included additional measures: Cost Amount (Expected) and Cost Amount (Invd. & Expd.).
• Added 'Overflow Level' field to the Item table.
• Added 'Inventory Consumption Turnover (Value)' metric to the Days of Inventory Consumption report

Finance Insights:

• New Report: "Trial Balance". A foundational accounting report summarizing all G/L accounts with their debit, credit, and net balances over a selected period. Useful for validating that debits equal credits and ensuring the books are balanced.
• Added 'Journal Batch Name' field to the G/L Entries table.

Accounts Receivable Insights:

• Table Extensions: Added 8 text fields and 2 decimal fields to the Sales Invoice Header and Sales Credit Memo Header tables.
• Added the ability to calculate AR aging based on Document Date instead of Due Date. A new setup option, 'Use Document Date Instead of Due Date', is available in Insights Setup within the Power BI Insights Connector app.

Manufacturing Insights

• Added 'Cost Variance Type' field to the Value Entry table; 'Assigned User ID' field to the Production Order table.

Enhancements:

• Multi-Currency Reporting: We’ve extended Multi-Currency Reporting capabilities to the Purchasing, Inventory, Receivables, and Payables apps! This feature allows conversion from Local Currency (LCY) to Reporting Currencies (RCY), which can be configured within the connector app. You can find more information here.

Sales Insights:

• Delivery Analytics Enhancements:
  Added Sales Shipment Date Filter and Outstd. Sales Order Date Filter slicers to control which date field is used when filtering Sales Shipments or Outstanding Sales Orders.
  Added View Outstd. Sales Orders as slicer, allowing you to display Outstanding Sales Orders as a balance—this means past orders will be included in today’s metrics. Learn more about Delivery Analytics reports here.
• Added Shipping Agent and Purchasing Codes tables.
• Added Territory field to the Sell-to and Bill-to Customer tables.
• Added Date Filter to Item Sales reports. Users can now choose to display invoiced item sales data by Posting Date (default), Order Date, or Valuation Date.

• Receipt Analytics Enhancements: Implemented the same enhancements as in the Sales app:
  Added Purchase Receipt Date Filter and Outstd. Purch. Order Date Filter slicers.
  Added View Outstd. Purch. Orders as slicer with options for Net Change or Balance.

Inventory Insights:

• New Report – Safety Stock Coverage: This report shows the percentage of safety stock currently covered by available inventory. 100% means the inventory exactly matches the safety stock level. Values above 100% indicate available inventory exceeds the minimum threshold.

Finance Insights:

• Added Dimension 1 Table Extension Fields to Cubes reports.
• Enabled display of Total dimensions in Cubes reports.
• Added new measures: G/L Budget Variance (LCY) FYTD vs. Entire FY.
• Added VAT Date to the General Ledger Entry table.

Power BI Datasets: Added permissions to edit datasets. This feature empowers users to extend the standard model by incorporating new measures and data sources. How to Edit Datasets:

1. Open Power BI Desktop.

3. Choose the Published Dataset.
4. Go to the Modeling tab and select "Make changes to this model."
5. Click Submit.
